Who we are

What we collect

Information you give us

If you submit the Challenge Us form, we collect your name, email address, company name, job title, and the description of your challenge. Only name, email and the challenge description are required.

Conversations with our chat assistant

Our site offers an AI chat assistant. Conversations with it are stored, including the full message history, and are sent to our internal team so we can follow up. Please do not enter confidential, commercially sensitive or personal information about third parties into the chat. If you would rather not use it, the contact form and our email address do the same job.

Information collected automatically

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used. It records things like pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP address, device and browser type, and how you arrived at the site. It sets cookies in your browser. We do not use it to identify you personally, and we do not sell or share this data for advertising.

Fonts are served from our own domain rather than a third-party font service, so loading a page does not disclose your IP address to a font provider.

Why we use it

• To respond to you. If you contact us, we use your details to reply and to discuss possible work.
• To scope engagements. What you tell us about your challenge helps us judge whether we are a fit and what an engagement would involve.
• To improve the site. Aggregate analytics tell us which pages are useful and which are not.

We do not use anything you send us to train public AI models, and we do not use your data to build audience profiles for advertising.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only with service providers who help us run the site and our business, and only so far as they need it:

• Cloudflare, which hosts the service behind our contact form and chat assistant and stores conversation records.
• Anthropic, which provides the AI model behind the chat assistant. Messages you send are processed to generate replies.
• Slack, where enquiries and chat transcripts reach our team.
• Google, for website analytics.

We do not sell personal information. We may disclose information if the law requires it.

How long we keep it

Enquiries and chat transcripts are kept for as long as needed to respond and to maintain a record of client conversations, and are reviewed periodically. Analytics data is retained for 14 months. If you ask us to delete your information, we will do so unless we are required to keep it.

Your choices

You can ask us to confirm what personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, or to provide a copy. Email admin@fathomresearch.ai and we will respond within 30 days.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights, including under the California Consumer Privacy Act or the UK and EU General Data Protection Regulation. We honour these requests regardless of where you are.

You can block cookies in your browser, and most browsers offer a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control setting. Blocking analytics cookies does not affect your ability to use the site.

Security

Data is transmitted over encrypted connections and stored with the providers listed above. No system is perfectly secure, so please use the contact form rather than the chat assistant for anything sensitive.

Children

This site is aimed at businesses. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page.
